Simtech T-Slot

The proven technology for faster germination and healthy crop establishment.

For decades, the T-slot drilling principle has delivered healthier germination and stronger crop establishment by placing seed in the most favourable micro-environment possible. The result is lower input costs, excellent emergence, and consistently high yields.

Why direct drilling with Simtech?

Simtech’s no-till drilling system widens your drilling window and increases flexibility. Because the soil structure between the slots remains undisturbed, it drains better, compacts less, and can often be drilled in conditions that would stop conventional tillage, better withstanding the weight of modern machinery. This keeps operations moving even when weather is against you.

The Simtech inverted t-slot advantage

Our renowned Simtech drills minimise soil disturbance and preserve long-term soil fertility using our  inverted T-slot technology. This design creates a perfect seedbed environment where light, warmth, and moisture work together to accelerate germination.

A leading set of discs pre-slice the soil, allowing the T boot to form an ideal banded seeding strip. This creates a protected micro-environment – like a mini-greenhouse – where seed is placed at consistent depth, has good access to moisture via capillary action, and space for rapid root growth.

Developed from the original “Baker Boot” concept and refined by George and Simon of Simtech, the system forms a narrow slot with small wings that lift, part, and drop fine tilth back around the seed.

Key benefits include:

  • No smeared or compressed slot walls
  • No hair-pinning from residue
  • Light penetration for natural warming
  • Unrestricted root and shoot development

Where necessary, optional chain harrows or tactical rolling ensure ideal slot closure in challenging conditions.

Rapid Emergence, Stronger Establishment

Seeds drilled with the Simtech system aren’t forced through a compacted channel. Instead, they sit in an aerated, free-draining chamber with all the elements needed for fast, uniform germination. This leads to quicker emergence and more resilient crops, whether in wet or dry seasons.

Built on Low-Cost, Low-Maintenance Principles

All Simtech drills use the same core philosophy: reliable, simple, low-maintenance engineering capable of sowing effectively across all soil types and climates. Every machine uses the sprung-tine inverted T-slot coulter system that makes Simtech drills so successful.

A Proven Legacy Since 2005

Founded by George Simon in 2005, Simtech has become a leader in direct drilling technology. Our T-slot coulter – paired with a front opening disc – consistently places seed at uniform depth within a weather-proof micro-environment. Whether stitching into existing grassland or establishing new arable crops, the T-slot system delivers exceptional results.

Grass, forage and arable crops sown with Simtech equipment thrive thanks to the combination of mineralising the available nutrients in the soil via the vibrating action of the tine, natural soil structure, and enhanced root development.
